Chest trauma is an injury to the chest area of the body including the ribs, heart, and lungs. It is a common cause of death that can be a gunshot injury, knife injury, vehicle accident, and so on. The idea of a chest trauma is the damage to the flow of blood, air, or both flow of blood and flow of air.

Diagnosis of Chest Trauma.
Chest trauma can be identified by using a plain film x. It is that simple. The test shows the fractured rib, the clavicle, and the sterna fractures. The x-ray detects if the lungs are partially or totally collapsed by checking for any metallic external bodies that reside inside the chest.
The doctor or physician uses contrast dye on an x-ray machine for it to show the arteries and veins. The x-ray machine is connected to the monitor to show cross-sections of the images in the chest, bones, heart and lungs. This allows easy detection of bleeding in the chest cavity area of the body.
The main purpose of this imaging technique is to find any broken bones, damaged lungs, foreign bodies, bleeding outside the heart and to structure other organs in the chest area.
How to Treat Chest Injuries.
Treating cheat trauma must start from where the incident took place, as quick action saves lives.
The treatments to consider:
- A tight plastic should be used to cover holes and spaces that injuries caused in the chest area.
- The injured side should face down when addressing the injury so that. The injured victim should be well positioned.
- Do not remove any object stuck in the chest so as not to cause internal or external hemorrhage.
- Try and make the back and neck of the victim remain stable so as not to dislocate any fracture.
- Mouth to mouth or mouth to the nose is needed when the injured person is unconscious.
- Pure oxygen should be given to the injured person to support breathing.
- This helps in cases of blood loss or ventilator dysfunction.
When on emergency the doctor treats the rib fracture. The most dangerous rib fracture happens to be the first two ribs as they can damage other vital organs. Fractures can be very painful most when you breathe deep. If the lung tissue is not turned or cut off then it can remain very calm until it heals.
You get a frail chest when the ribs are fractured in more than two places followed by nearby ribs fractured again more than two places. The frail chest area of the chests cavity folds inward while contradicting the initial state when the injured person breathes in.
If the chest trauma is a sudden hit, fall from a tall building, or placed under a heavy object then there is a quick sharp increase in the pressure in the chest allowing the injured person to develop an improper flow of blood which leads to a heart disease known as cyanotic.
In this case, allow the head to level up by raising the bed to 30 degrees so that excess pressure can be reduced. Supplemental oxygen is necessary until surgery can be done to fix the damaged heart.
