How to Make a Paleo-Style Grapefruit Smoothie

October 4, 2017 By Rose Zellmer

Paleo diet has been a continuing trend in the modern community. It is a type of diet that focuses on organic ingredients that can provide healthier and tastier foods than the normal dietary lifestyles.

However, some people are quite unconvinced with the Paleo craze. They have this certain assumption that it is just the same as other types of diet. That’s not really true at all. Paleo diet also recommends ingredients that can supplement the body’s essential nutritional needs. It is a straightforward eating regimen that gives what your body actually needs.

Paleo Diet and Grapefruits

Of course, you can say that the Paleo diet usually features vegetables and fruits on its recipes. And when it comes to fruits, you should consider the wonders that a grapefruit can bring.

I am totally in love with grapefruits. Their juicy taste makes any recipes (that they are included) exhilarating and truly reverberating to the tongue. Ideally, this food item is eaten raw. But why would you do that if you can turn this ingredient into something else? You know what I am talking about! A smoothie, of course!

All of us can say that smoothies are a crowd-pleaser. Once it is already on the table, everyone will sure come rushing just to get their own glass. The luscious and irresistible flavor of smoothies is the reason why it is a one-of-a-kind dessert. Fortunately, the Paleo diet promotes this particular recipe. Once you use the proper ingredients, a smoothie can become a great nutritional boost.

Since we are talking about grapefruits and smoothies, why not we just combine the both of them? After all, I am pretty sure that you are already eager in making a grapefruit smoothie. Let’s start!

Grapefruit Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie recipe that I am going to show you features grapefruits and other organic ingredients. The composition of these flavors can ensure full health benefits to your body.

Ingredients:

  • Grapefruit (1 pieces)
  • Frozen pineapple chunks (2 cups)
  • Yogurt (1/3 cup)
  • Coconut oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Fresh ginger (quartered piece)
  • Granola and berries

Instructions:

1. Place all the ingredients (except for the granola and berries) in a blender. Blend them thoroughly until you can create a creamy yet smooth mixture.

You can modify the number of ingredients that you will include in this recipe if you want to enhance and alter its flavor. If you want the semi-sweet taste of pineapple to overwhelm the smoothie, increase the number of chunks. Just don’t forget to balance it by slightly adding a few slices of grapefruits. In this way, the intended grapefruit flavor would remain.

If you find that the smoothie is quite thick, then you can smoothen it by adding milk. Since there is frozen ingredient included on this ingredient, there is no need for you to add ice. But of course, it is still up to you if you want to create a brain-freezing smoothie.

2. Once done, sprinkle the berries and granola on the top of the smoothies. They will serve as the toppings, which could provide better texture to this luxurious dessert! There are still other toppings that you can include on this smoothie. Chia seeds are a good example.

Conclusion

Making a grapefruit smoothie is pretty simple. As part of the Paleo world, it is pretty surprising that easy-to-do desserts like this do actually exist! As long as you got a powerful blender, you can blend any fruit compositions into smoothies! In fact, I have seen some people including some veggies on their smoothies. I believe that is a good recipe to try on to later!
